Mary Swanson
Here’s the story of a girl named Mary. Mary Swanson.
As fate would have it, I was supposed to foster a diƯerent dog that day, but Marti Gras (Mary’s former name) wasn’t having it. I renamed her Mary, after a character in Dumb and Dumber. What’s her last name? Starts with an S! Let's see. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson? SWANSON.
Mary is a Dutch Sheppard/Pit whose favorite pastime is taking long walks on the beach, stalking squirrels, chilling on balconies (waiting for her Romeo?) and going for the occasional sail.
Mary hasn’t lost her puppy eyes and uses them to make sure I always let her sleep in the people bed where it’s warm, try not to take her on car rides or hang on busy streets which make her nervous. She’s never met another dog or a person she didn’t love….and we all love her right back.
Baylor
Baylor Fusion Fuentes the First
Baylor Fusion was named after the street we lived on at the time my daughter Amaya earned him as a gift for getting straight A’s and the name of the basketball team she played on at the time – not being a dog lover (yet), I wanted to choose the breed and size so I knew I’d still be the boss – I was very naïve then.
Baylor or Bubs or Bubbaliscious as he’s frequently called is all boss in a tiny body. He’s 17lbs of fierce protector, a sassy nose nudger when you’re not petting him at all times, a professional cuddler who burrows under the covers of my California King and leaves me a sliver of bed to exist on. He’s a sock stealing hoarder of our belongings and will bury a milkbone in all the cracks and crevices that are the hardest to reach and bark until you figure it out.
With Amaya away at college now, he’s all mine and I couldn’t imagine life without his wagging tail and excited kisses greeting me when I get home or climbing on top of my laptop while I futilely try to work or me apologizing out loud when I must use the blender.
He’s heaven on tiny legs.
Maddie
All about Miss Marilyn the Maltipoo:
Marilyn won us over at first sight - as Marilyns historically do. We weren’t sure we wanted another dog, but she reminded us that she was doing the picking!
Marilyn quickly let us know she wanted to be called Maddie. Maddie is a finicky eater who likes her personal space. With four female owners, Maddie never struggles to prove who the princess of the household is!
Strangers or those who come too close to her people will hear her roar in protection. Maddie love love loves her frequent daily walks and being pampered.
